first little accident....

about a month ago we got Caraline and potty and though we'd give it a go.

she wasn't ready, and we realized that we weren't ready to commit ourselves to that either!

anyway, I just decided we would forget about it, and get over this new bed thing first, before we tried again.

so maybe in a couple of months.

well today she was in the bathroom with me and wanted to use her potty too, so I stripped her down and put her on it.

she sat for maybe 30 seconds, nothing happened, but I was just excited that she sat there (problem before is that she was terrified of sitting on a hole.lol).

so I let her up and she ventured on into the living room while I quickly went in her bedroom and gathered some clothes and diaper.

when I came back in she was nowhere to be found, but I could see Pepper at the back door looking into the kitchen.

I came around to find her right in front of the sink cabinets being as still as she could be.

then I seen the little wet footprints coming over from the kitchen table.

and there it was, a puddle of pee under the table.lol!

little stinker went and squatted under the table after just sitting on the potty!

I had quite a laugh, she seemed so embarrassed, poor thing!

daddy told me to make sure and get a picture of our first little accident for her baby book.

(which I am sure that there will be many many many more!)

It's Thursday!

Just me and lil gal relaxing in the recliner:)

So Proud!

I just have to say that I am so proud of my sweet little girl.
in the beginning I thought that the transition to the big girl twin bed was going to be a long road.
but she proved me wrong.
for about a week we had to do the old switch-a-roo to get her to sleep in her big girl bed.
we would try to put her down in it but she continued to just get up.
so we would eventually put her to bed in her crib (where she would just lay right down and go to sleep)
and then get her up and switch her to the twin bed in her new room.
she didn't wake up during the move but she was getting up and out of bed at about 3:30 every night.
this went on for maybe a week.

so 4 days ago we decided that we were going to just do it.
there was one pretty rough night and day where we just kept putting her back in over and over and over,
but it paid off!
no more crib and switch.
she has done so GREAT!!
Caraline goes down in her big girl bed, knowing that she can get out, but doesn't.
she will even talk herself to sleep but stay in bed knowing that it is night night time!
naps are going great too!!
can't believe that she caught on so quickly!
love that little girl and love getting my great sleeper back!

had a little maternity photo session over spring break with my good friend Heather!

she does an AMAZING job!!

in these pics my BUMP was 25 weeks and 4 days along.

(however you may not believe that when you see this belly of mine, I'm sure some would swear that my dates are wrong!!)

First Night in the BIG Girl Bed!

yesterday we tried napping in our new big girl bed.

didn't go so well.

ended up back in the crib.

last night we thought we'd give it another go.

Caraline was not interested in going to sleep in her bed.

she did lay down for about 5 minutes like she was going to do it,

but then she just came strolling in the living room like she had done something funny.

I have to admit it was hard not to laugh at her face of accomplishment.

she thought she was getting out of going to bed.

well she thought wrong.

so I went in with her and tried to lay her down.

unsuccessful.

we ended up putting her back in her crib to fall asleep.

of course she was out in a minute.

then after a few more I carried her over to her new room, new bed.

she stayed asleep!

as for my sleep, not so good.

I was awake at every little move she made wondering if she was getting out of bed.

she didn't.

not until 3:30am that is.

she got up, so Tim went in and laid her back down and told her to go back to sleep.

I was laughing to myself, thinking "sure that's gonna happen"!

well it did!!

we didn't see her again til 6:30, she normally wakes up at 7!

I think that she did pretty good for her first night!

well today same thing at naptime.

had to let her go to sleep in her crib first and then make the move.

so far she's still sleeping.

glad that we started this early before Elleanor's arrival.

and hoping that we get the hang of it soon!

Zoo Fun!!!

this week was spring break.

so we decided to take a trip to the zoo!

just mommy, daddy and caraline.

(but we did run into cousins Mel and Zac on our way out)

it's not the first time that we have taken Caraline.

but it's the first time that she has really been able to enjoy it.

we took her this time last year but she didn't really know what was going on.

this time she had a blast!!

(and so did we, we love seeing her experience new things with that cute smile and excitement of hers)!

WHAT A FUN MORNING!!!

24 weeks came so FAST!!

went for my 24 week appt Thursday.

blood pressure great.

baby's heartbeat great.

measurements great.

weight, well not so much.

have gained 17 lbs this far.

guess I am doing better than the 50 lbs that I gained with Caraline,

but there is still a ways to go so we shall see!

at this point I am feeling pretty darn good!

love feeling Elleanor move, which is getting stronger and stronger by the day.

I do have to say it is quite a bit more tiring this time around,

guess that goes with having a toddler at home!

anyway, totally loving pregnancy since all of the sickness has been gone for a while, hoping that continues!!

right now we are working on trying to get Caraline's room ready for her to move into it so that we can get the nursery ready.
it has been tough trying to figure out what to do with all of our stuff, totally outgrowing our house!
hopefully we will get C in her new bed within the next week or so!
can't wait to see how this is going to go!!

and we have a tentative date for Elleanor's arrival: June 20, 2011!
(not scheduled yet but this is what my doc and I discussed at this appt, will be 39 weeks on this date)

today is definitely one of those days.

no shower.

stay in our pj's.

no make-up.

stinky kind of days.

Caraline and I are spending the whole morning inside trying to organize her big girl room!



18 month checkup...

18 MONTHS OLD!



on Tuesday morning we headed to our ped's for Caraline's 18 month visit.
around our house this is a dreaded thing.
Caraline has come to absolutely hate being at the doctor's office.
(which is completely understandable since a shot or two is usually involved)
this was the worst visit for her to date.
she is ok when we go in and goes straight to playing, but as soon as her name is called she flips her switch!

this go around a the doctor's was a little different.
it was very very busy, parking lot full.
all of the nurses were busy with patients so Caraline's pediatrician was coming out to the waiting room and calling back his patients himself. (one of the reasons I love our ped)!
so he came and got us, took us to our room and said the nurse would be in there in a bit, well guess the nurse's were still busy so he came back in and went ahead with C's checkup so we weren't just left waiting!!!
everything checked out GREAT!!!!

then our nurse came in to do weight and length and of course the dreaded shot:(
she is absolutely my favorite there, but I can say she is probably Caraline's least favorite.
C just hears her voice and the tears start coming:(
we had the hardest time getting her weight as they still have me put her on the counter scale and she just tries to hold onto me for dear life and reaches, so afraid that she is going to fall off, maybe next time we'll be on the big girl scale.
then it took both the nurse and I to hold her down to get her length.
she screamed bloody murder, everyone knows Caraline at this office.lol!!!!
she was by far the loudest of all the kiddos in the place.

but she is quick to get over it and she likes picking out a sucker when we leave, even tho I take it when we get in the car and she doesn't seem to know that mommy eats it.lol!

her weight is 21# 12oz, 15 to 20% (pretty consistent here)
length is 32 1/2 inches!, 75% (her jeans have become high waters!)
she got only 1 immunization this time.
and the best part is that we don't have to go back for 6 months!!!! (which is our 2 year appt! wow this is coming too fast!!)

about Caraline:
she likes to point to her toes as mommy counts them.
does the motions to the itsy bitsy spider, patty cake, and sometimes I'm a little teapot.
has a new super cute booty shak'n dance.
jabbers up a storm but still out of the blue will just say a new word loud and clear but no repeat when asked to.
loves, loves, loves seeing other kids and interacting with them, she is sometimes shy at first but she comes around (pretty sure she gets this from her mommy).
she loves to give kisses and hugs.
waves hi and bye at everyone and everything but still doesn't say bye bye (we're working on it).
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is still our favorite show (think mommy and daddy are pretty much sick of it.lol).
we love to play pretend, she is always using something as a phone and jabbering away on it, and C loves to get out bowls, spoons, etc. and pretend to cook and feed us! (it's so so cute).

we are still sucking that thumb and it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon, it's our comfort thing:)

and we have gotten even more curls in our hair, which mommy LOVES!



and her absolute favorite thing right now is playing OUTSIDE!!!!  she loves, loves, loves being outdoors! whether it is just walking down the sidewalk, playing on her little tykes swing/slide set, riding her 4-wheeler, or just kicking the soccer ball around with daddy she could just stay outside forever and be happy!!!

1 more new thing.....Caraline now has a big girl bed!!! With Elleanor coming in June we decided to get C a twin sleigh bed and use her crib for her sister.  I just put it together today (yep I am one pretty handy mommy) so we haven't tried it out yet but I am pretty scared about it!!! She is also getting new bedding/room decor so there will be pics/post to follow in the future to show her new room!!!
